Macau - The return after 16 years!

April 6, 2016

My dears,

Here I leave you  the video I edited about my Homeland - MACA U.

I went there last week.  Taking advantage of the fact that I have my Father and his wife living there, I paid them a visit and enjoyed their company, to give me a complete "tour" of my beautiful land.

I was born in Macau, but very young, when I was only 3 years old I went to live  to Portugal.

At the age of 10, I returned to the Peninsula, just on vacation with my parents and my brother.

In this return,  after 16 years, many of the memories have faded. However, there are things that you don't forget, like the smells, the food and some games I had at the time, namely small rockets, which popped when they were thrown to the ground, and giant balloons, made of glue, that blew through a small straw (you will see in the video).

If you haven't had the opportunity to get to know Macau, be dazzled by my report on the entire Peninsula, in just 14 minutes.

Here, I will show you everything, from  history, with a direct Lusitanian connection,  and the best information that will help you to know almost all the wonders that this former Portuguese colony has to offer.

They are magnificent images that can fill your eyes with such grandeur, glamor and luxury, and I believe that you will be able to arouse a great desire to one day travel there, who knows.

I'm suspicious to speak, because as a Macanese that I am, obviously for me this trip had a very special meaning. However, when I returned here from vacation, with 10 years old, even so, I was still too young to keep so much information in my memory, so I didn't remember almost anything, now when I returned. But, it is also normal, because the peninsula has changed a lot and has had a brutal growth in recent years, with new landfills and gigantic constructions.

I hope this video will also be able to demystify a little the idea I've heard, from the mouth and writings of many people, that `they didn't like Macau. They found an ugly city, confused and with many people`. So, I answer those people who have a bad image of Macau that they are totally wrong. And I ask you to go back there again and enjoy all the beauty of the peninsula. Of course, whoever says that (and I'm absolutely sure) only spent one day there. Okay, yes, the Peninsula is small and you can see everything precisely in two days, a weekend, or three at most. But that will undoubtedly be a great rush. And worse, if they go there without having studied the ideal places or having someone to help as a tourist guide, then obviously they felt like they were in a mess of the city. Mainly in the so-called "Old Macau". There, you will see a less pleasant image, as it has a large cluster of old houses, right on the  Chinese fashion, one on top of the other, full of railings, with everything piled up on the balconies and in downtown Macau the confusion is tremendous, because of the commerce itself. And, if they go on the weekend, it gets worse, because it fills with many tourists, mainly of Chinese ethnicity, who always stop by to go to the casinos, since in all of China there are none, by law. But, going to the new area of Macau, the islands of Taipa, Coloane and the new Cotai landfill, you will certainly be enchanted and fall in love with all the beauty that Macau can offer us in this region.

So I recommend, to the next tourists who go to Macau, to go calmly, with prior knowledge of what they want to know, if possible, try to find a tourist guide or some Portuguese who is willing to give you a "tour" around the city (as there are still many Portuguese residents), and finally, I don't recommend going on a weekend, so they don't have the shock of seeing so much confusion on the part of the Chinese population.

Now enjoy this virtual “tour”!!!
