The arrival of a baby in the bosom of a family means a lot of happiness, but also many new challenges. In the first months, the baby demands practically constant attention, making it difficult for mothers (and fathers) to regularly practice physical exercise.

One of the biggest difficulties of the "new parents" is to find an activity that allows them, simultaneously, to recover their physical shape and to be close to their baby, respecting their sleep and feeding rhythms.

The Sling Dance is a dance activity without impact, without jumping and without sudden movements, performed by the adult who carries the baby in the sling, or kangaroo.

This activity has many advantages for the mother, namely the reduced risk of postpartum depression, due to the direct effect of physical exercise, as well as the socialization that classes allow.

The advantages for the baby are related to the strengthening of the bond, with the reduction of the physiological episodes of gastro-oesophageal reflux resulting from the lying position, with the apparent decrease of the infant's colic episodes (and crying periods) and with the potential improvement in sleep quality. This activity also allows to stimulate the baby's neurodevelopment, by working early on its notions of rhythm, musicality and movement.

The sling, or kangaroo, must be adjusted for correct and safe use. Before starting any physical activity in the postpartum period, you should always consult your attending physician.
